Livermore, CA – The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District (LARPD) proudly announces the completion of a new turf field at Cayetano Park, 698 Portola Ave. This stateof-the-art field, installed by AstroTurf, was completed in June 2024 and promises to serve the community's sports enthusiasts for at least the next decade.

The newly installed turf field at Cayetano Park has a higher quality surface, featuring an innovative pad underneath that prevents compaction and reduces the risk of injuries from falls. This improvement ensures a safer playing environment and extends the field's longevity, with expectations to last through 2034 and beyond. The new field will be used for soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, rugby, and ultimate frisbee, making it a versatile upgrade for Livermore’s sports community.

LARPD’s Parks and Facilities Manager Fred Haldeman expressed his enthusiasm for the project. "We are thrilled to unveil the new turf field at Cayetano Park. This upgrade represents our commitment to providing top-notch facilities for our community. The advanced features of this turf, particularly the pad underneath, ensure a safer and more durable playing surface for all. We look forward to seeing our local athletes enjoy this field for many years to come."

The installation by AstroTurf marks a significant milestone in LARPD's ongoing efforts to address deferred maintenance at recreational facilities throughout the district. It reinforces their dedication to providing Livermore with outstanding recreation programs and a system of parks, trails, and facilities that enhance the quality of life.
